Dual Purpose Machines

A dual purpose metal detector is one that is able to be used for both treasure hunting and gold prospecting. The Minelab Equinox 800 falls into this category. Dual purpose detectors are generally VLF type technologies which are not good performers in the mineralised ground of the goldfields, and therefore are much better coin/treasure hunting detectors than for gold nuggets.
