Backpack
Backpacks or harnesses are an aid in controlling the weight of a detector to make it easier to use and less tiring. Worn over the shoulders they have attachment points for bungy cords usually on both sides, which help support the weight of the detector. It is possible to also use a Bungy Strut (Hipstick) which attaches over the harness waist belt and connects to the upper bungy attachment point. The bungy cord then attaches to this Bungy Strut allowing for a good deal of the weight of the detector to be moved to your hip area for a less tiring session.
Hydration packs are special harnesses that have a bladder installed to carry water in, to allow for drinking water as you detect.
