River Sluices

A river sluice is an item designed to be placed in a running stream and propped up to stay in place. The running water separates the fines from the unwanted material as it flows through the box. Material is placed in the funnel to allow the water flow to do the job of separation, and the gold is recovered from the sluice matting periodically.
